I think that's an awesome idea. (I actually tried volunteering at the local Red Cross Office, but they would never call me back.) But for any designer - getting in a publication is always a good motivating bonus!

im thinking about a serie of before & after

before:
the actual logos, websites, visual identity, folders etc, of non profit organizations

after:
a reshape or redesign
then the artist/designer should comment about the work make, wich softwares were used for it, wich concept, and everything else that could be mentioned.

Then we could make a website, and an eZine with this content.
After fixing a nice number of collaborators, we could make a printed edition.

The can start right now thinking about a name for this. And here is the initial suggestions:

. DFL - Design for Life
. Rebuild
. Remake
. Future
. Connect
. Winder

Okay, I put it into my journal, so this reaches at least almost 100 people who watch me recently.
WDL or DFL are my favourites, since they tell a bit what it is about, the other sounds in my opinion to technical.

I am wondering how the selection will be handled. Which organization is worth to be supported and which isn't? Would I be able to select myself whom I want to support with my skills or would I need to do it for any organization asking for help? Do we get background informations about this organizations? There are foul players in this sector, I don't want to support sects and self claimed psycho healer or fanatic prayers etc. neither do I want to support organizations which are corrupt and criminal, of course.

WDL and DFL its nice for me, but I think we could make a more original name. Please send your suggestions.

We must make sure that the organizations are not bad intentioned ones.
We should make some rules for the picks, like:

. non religious subjects
. non sexist, racist etc, organizations
. non profit organizations
. non financial problems background organizations
. non political organizations
. what else?

We can make a list of organizations who want to be helped by us, and then we could let people choose wich one they will help. Sure we cannot allow an organization without any support or an organization with more than one supporter.

And plus, we could find collaborators with different skills, as:

. graphic design
. vector design
. photographers
. sculptors
. models
. 3D designers
. flash animators
. html programmers
. java or other programmer
. database builders
. free hosting compannies
. copywriters
. etc

This way we could work as teams on our free time, sure.

Is there anybody left? The most organizations are at least political or religious in one way or the other. I would say

and religious and political organizations only after a well done backgroundcheck.
If the clearance is fine, I don't care which organization I am helping with. Its only important to me that they don't try to rip any people off.
